Silver City, NM -- Western New Mexico University got its first win in Heartland Conference competition in its first try Friday with a 30-20, 30-24, 30-20 win over Dallas Baptist. The victory was WNMU's tenth-straight trip to the winners circle.
The Mustangs looked a little lethargic at times, but pulled together in each game to take command as the score neared 30.
"We just didn't serve the ball very well," said Jim Callender. "There's 900 square feet out there, and we couldn't hit it too many times to have a good night."
Stephanie Higgins (Biggsville, IL/) recorded 23 kills and Jennifer Snowbarger (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa High School) turned in 13. Courtney Heiser (Tempe, AZ/Marcos de Niza High School) had seven digs and 39 digs for the night
The Mustangs (10-3, 1-0 HC) entertain Embry Riddle in non-conference action Saturday night.
